Actuator Types

Actuator types are determined by the choice of motor power. There are three options:

  1. Electric Motor (Cordless battery power or 110v mains electric).
  2. Gasoline Motor
  3. Pneumatic

You should make your choice based on the environmental conditions and locality.

Electric

Electric Portable Valve Actuator MC89#

Although it is lightweight and compact, the MC89 Portable Valves Actuator delivers a 900 Nm (660 lb.ft) maximum torque. This makes it the perfect tool for any  Easy or Standard duty job for any valve type, indoor or outdoor, with great autonomy. Its two 18v Lithium-Ion batteries allow operators to use it continuously for up to one hour. For even more intensive usage, the mains electric power connection kit plugs on the actuator just like a battery and provides unlimited autonomy.

Designed for any type of operation, the MC89 comes with 2 models that cover a 0 to 320 rpm speed and a 900 Nm maximum torque. Even the most stubborn valves can be operated.

The integrated electronic torque limiter will easily prevent any damage to your valve or the tool itself.

  • MC89E-077 – Easy duty, Max. Torque 115Nm (85 ft/lbs)
  • MC89S-035 – Standard Duty, Max. Torque 550Nm (406 ft/lbs)
  • MC89S-054 – Standard Duty, Max Torque 850Nm (627 ft/lbs)

Torque can be increased on the MC89 by adding a Banjo Head.

Electric Portable Valve Actuator JA73#

Dedicated to the most demanding applications. Thanks to its robustness and high autonomy batteries, the JA73 Modec electric portable valve actuator is able to deliver high power for more than one hour continuously. It does not depend on any energy source (electric plug or compressed air network) and can operate freely anywhere.

Much more powerful than its little brother (MC89), it can deliver high speed and high torque simultaneously, which makes it the perfect tool for heavy duty jobs. Extremely robust, it has got an integrated clutch system which protects the operator and the equipment, even if a valve is completely blocked.

The ergonomic control handle allows the display and control of the many actuator and battery’s functions and parameters in a simple and intuitive way.

The integrated electronic torque limiter (available as standard on all models) allows it to adapt to any configuration and further improve the safety of the user and the equipment.

Greenline Electric Portable Valve Actuator

The Green Power Line series is a modern portable device that is the result of the latest technical innovations. This new tool is powered by a Hikoki Brushless 1000W electrical engine and includes an internal double micro reducer with a maximum torque limiter. These new features guarantee a high RPM output, allowing it to operate quickly on hydraulic valves, penstocks and sluice gates thanks to its 113 RPM/min, autonomously and in total safety.

It is particularly recommended for emergency operations when no electrical power is available, on electrified multi-revolution actuation systems. Thanks to its light weight and small size, it can be used in any position (either vertical or horizontal); it’s the ultimate tool for operators looking for power also in particular sites, such as underground chambers.

Petrol Motor
Gas Portable Valve Actuator PY68#

 

Petrol (gasoline) portable valve actuators can be used in total autonomy – the only limit being the available petrol supply. They are particularly suitable for use in isolated outdoor places.

Extremely robust, they have an integrated clutch system which protects the operator and the equipment, even if a valve is completely blocked.

Don’t use the gasoline actuator in an enclosed environment where exhaust fumes can build up, in these environments an electric or pneumatic actuator is a more suitable solution.

Pneumatic portable valve actuators are the most compact, light and powerful. They offer a wide choice in terms of power and can be used in all environments, even the very difficult ones. You can have them ATEX II 2 GD c IIC T6 to T4 certified, they can go to stall and they don’t generate heat, sparks or exhaust fumes.
